All her dreams go…
Amy’s going to college. She’s super ambitious and is acing all her classes. In the evenings she works at Hooters. She’s super hot and gets excellent tips. One night she meets a guy named Phil. He’s much older than her and has a lot of money and tosses it around like crazy. Showing off. She doesn’t mind, he gives her hella tips. He asks her out, but she turns him down. One night he asks her to join him for a joint after work. They go to his car and smoke up and have a blast. She leaves. They start hanging out more and more. Soon she’s at his apartment almost every night. Smoking pot, bonding, and having sex. He tries to hide it, but she learns pretty fast that he’s a drug dealer. Something new crosses his path. It’s called Baby’s Breath. He tries it and thinks he’s found the missing link to everything he’s been looking for in life. His search is over. Excited, he buys a huge supply, planning on selling it to make a killer profit. Amy tries it and has a similar experience. The drug is powerful and soon they’re holed up in the apartment. Nothing matters but Baby’s Breath. Amy’s dropped out of college and lost her job. They don’t sell any of the supply, they use it all for themselves. Soon, they’re out of cash, and prospects. So they start thinking of devious ways to get money fast.
They’re caught stealing and barely escape with their lives. Then something comes over Phil. He changes, and tells Amy she has to take to the street and get them cash. Now. She’s not into it, but he smacks her around and until she’s balling. He calms her down and convinces her it’s just this one time, they have to get a fix tonight or they’re going to be in deep shit. The more they detox, the more they fade. It’s as if they’re evaporating. Something goes wrong and the John throws her out of his car and calls her a fucking junkie and tells her to go die. They both go into major detox. Desperate, Phil dawns a mask and mugs a lady on the corner of their street. He ends up killing her, but gets enough cash to get some more Baby’s Breath. Back on the drug, they both regain their solidity. As long as they’re on the drug they’re fine. But it’s expensive shit. Amy finds out that her mother was on her way to see her when she was mugged and killed. She’s shocked and feels lost. She decides to go cold turkey, but can’t make it two days without almost fading away. She’s now hooking and making some decent cash, supporting their habit. One night she returns to their one bedroom apartment and finds Phil has overdosed. He’s barely visible, she watches as he turns to smoke and evaporates into the air.
Amy loses it, she’s sad about Phil, but she doesn’t want to die. She’s got enough Baby’s Breath to keep herself going for a couple of days. Several weeks later there’s a knock on the door. Then banging. Keys, and the door opens. The manager looks inside. “Hello?” Miss Callaway?” There’s nobody in the room, only two blue stains on the carpet right next to each other.
