Four people. Two stolen hearts.
Richard and Leighton — both vacationing at a luxury resort with their spouses for the resort’s 10-day anniversary celebration — meet and fall into a passionate affair. Each finds in the other something they’ve felt has passed them by: for Leighton, it’s the passion and artistry she sees in Richard, and for Richard, it’s the intense, intelligent femininity that Leighton exudes from every pore. On a purely magnetic level, they feel made for each other, drawn to one another like magnets. But on a deeper level, neither is the type of person who cheats, and they know they will have to return to their families, and will be happy there. They can’t shake the feeling that each was made for the other, that they’re soulmates discovering each other too late. So they decide to make the best of a short window of passion — to soak each other up “until we leave and never see each other again.”
